SkirtsAfire, herArts Festival – Friday March 6th, 2015

ASANI Workshop 10:00 am Lucky you who planned ahead to join us for this chance to learn from these amazing artists! In the Alberta Avenue Community League, SkirtsAfire Cabaret Space.

Your little ones will love For When She Wakes, a fun show for children and their grownups in the intimate setting of the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts at 11:00 am.

6:00 – 7:00 pm – Sloppy Hoggs Road Hus BBQ  Enjoy the sweet sounds of our SkirtsAfire singer songwriter while you feast!

7:00 – 9:00 pm – Words Unzipped  A collaboration between spoken word poets and a range of talented performance artists that will leave you inspired. This event  packed the house last year, so our advice is… arrive early! In the Nina Gallery.

7:30 – 8:45 pm The Mothers  Do not let the opportunity go by without attending this must-see play, written by Nicole Moeller, starring Annette Loiselle. Held in the Alberta Avenue Community League, SkirtsAfire Black Box Theatre.

9:00 – 9:30 pm Ask Aggie  If you enjoy a laugh along with sage advice you will love Ask Aggie. Held after The Mothers performance in the Alberta Avenue Community League as well, grab a bev and popcorn, and sit down and enjoy!

9:30 – 11 pm Lauren Mann & the Fairly Odd Folk  What a way to end the evening – their captivating alternative folk-pop melodies and authentic, energetic performance will draw you in and won’t let go! 2014 CBC Searchlight Canada’s Best New Emerging Artist winners with their song I Lost Myself.  Performance follows Ask Aggie, in the Alberta Avenue Community League, SkirtAfire Cabaret Space.

SkirtsAfire Art Unhemmed art exhibit at the Nina is open throughout festival events. Seven artists, in very different ways, each explore the theme – Everything Cannot be True.  Discover the creativity in the shadows between art and utility, and find the magic in the mundane.
